Delivering ‘top class’ meals to older Aussies

A new home delivery meals service is now available to older Western Australians with an eye for quality.

WA’s older generation is demanding more – no longer prepared to take a back seat, they are looking for quality, customised services, at reasonable prices.

“We’re finding that older people are increasingly determined to continue living independently, and they want top quality, reasonably priced services at their fingertips to help them do that,” said Ray Glickman, chief executive of aged and community care organisation Amana Living.

In response, Amana Living is rapidly adapting to the needs of the changing market, most recently adding a meals delivery service following feedback from its client base.

Only available in Perth metro, Easy Meals are created and delivered by Amana Living’s catering subsidiary, Total Catering Solutions (TCS).

“TCS already produces meals for some top class brands, including Amana Living’s care facilities, the resources industry and the business class section of a major airline,” said Mr Glickman. “It’s now our pleasure to share these quality products with all older Western Australians by delivering meals to their doorstep.”

Easy Meals are nutritionally balanced, cater for the needs of vegetarians and offer diabetic friendly dessert options. Customers receive an extensive menu to choose from, and place their order each week when a delivery is received. The meals arrive frozen in oven proof containers (conventional or microwave), ready to reheat.

All menus are subjected to a full 30 element nutritional analysis, as well as microbiological testing in an independent laboratory.

The service is a godsend for families whose parents or grandparents live alone and find shopping and cooking for one too much of a chore. Not only are the meals easy to prepare, but they are nutritional and tasty, helping to maintain a healthy, balanced diet.

Doris Allen is one of the first customers from among Amana Living clients to take up the service, and admitted to being surprised by the amount of food delivered to her door by a very friendly driver.

“The meals are most enjoyable – there is lots of it but I eat it all!” she said. “This is a very efficient service – I’m very happy, and it saves me doing so much shopping.”

As an Amana Living Home Care client, the 90 year old receives a discount on the standard Easy Meals price of just $8.15 for a tasty, nutritious two course meal, paying only $7 per meal.
