Dame Elisabeth Murdoch is Victorian 2007 Senior of the Year
Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, the 98 year old philanthropist , gardener and
mother of Rupert Murdoch has been selected as Victoria’s 2007 Senior of the Year.
For most of her life she has worked for charitable causes,
starting as an RSPCA volunteer in the 1920s, and for the Royal
Children’s Hospital in Melbourne since 1933.
She now supports 110 organisations annually, and is known as a
remarkable gardener, benefactor of the arts, education and health, and
tireless worker for many charities.
