Culture and spirituality in ageing migrant communities forum
The Centre for Cultural Diversity in Ageing, is hosting a forum on Friday 12 June at Monash University Centre, level 7 on 30 Collins Street, Melbourne.
The forum will assist aged care service managers, managers of health and allied services, care coordinators, health services staff, aged care staff, lifestyle coordinators, Aged Care Assesment Service staff, policy workers, allied health professionals, and pastoral and spiritual leaders, to understand and help elderly people in their search for life meaning, hopes, beliefs, identity and connectedness.
Gary Bouma, Emeritus Professor of Sociology, School of Political and Social Enquiry at Monash University, will lead discussion on the themes of an overview of cultural and religious diversity in Australia, and the role of spirituality in the ageing process.
Other speakers will explore the role of spirituality and religion in the ageing migrant communities. Practical models that have successfully implemented culturally inclusive initiatives will be highlighted.
Registration fee is $88 (GST inclusive) and includes morning tea, light lunch and resource kits.
