COTA (nsw) appoints executive director
Council on the Ageing (NSW) has appointed William (Bill) Byrnes to the position of executive director from 21 May 2007.
“We are delighted to announce this appointment,” said Kath Brewster, president of COTA (NSW). “This is not an easy position to fill; the experience and skills required are broadly based, and it is essential that we recruit the right person for the job if we are to continue our proud history of representing the older community of NSW.
Bill comes to us with the strategic planning and problem solving skills we were looking for, and an extensive senior management experience in both not-for-profit and for-profit organisations.
He has a career history in the medical industry, and has qualifications in management, total quality management, and marketing.
One of his reasons for applying for the position with COTA was that he believed it to be an organisation where he could ‘give something back to the community’.”
This appointment follows the resignation earlier this year of the former executive director, Neil Tucker, to return to his former profession of school education.
COTA (NSW) founded in 1956, is the peak organisation developing policy and representing the over 50s community of NSW.
