The ‘Strategic Thinking for Choice and Control’ conference has been designed to assist providers to explore the destination of the aged care reforms and the steps needed to get there, while ensuring access to the best possible care for older Australians in the future.

The Aged Care Roadmap, developed by the Aged Care Sector Committee, sets out future directions of aged care with short and medium term actions required to transform the current aged care system into a sustainable, consumer-driven and market-based system.

Government has endorsed the Roadmap, publicly released in April, as a starting point for a new era in aged care in Australia.

The ‘Strategic Thinking for Choice and Control’ conference will be one of the earliest occasions to hear from some of its key architects and thought leaders from across the country to discuss the most important issues and implications impacting aged care providers.

“Recent changes to the ACFI confirm that the current aged care system is dysfunctional for all players – providers, government and consumers. It’s well past time for major change,” according to COTA chief executive officer Ian Yates.

“Now is an important time for us to come together to discuss the changes to come and how we can make good and effective business decisions now that will ensure the best outcomes as the reform journey continues.”

‘Strategic Thinking for Choice and Control’ is the first in the Aged Care Roadmap series of events addressing the choice and control reforms in February 2017 and beyond, addressing the key milestones of reform and explore where the sector is headed.

“COTA and Criterion have designed this forum to assist you in effectively preparing for the key milestones on the reform journey and we hope to share the lessons we have learnt to benefit all aged care providers and consumers across the country.”

“We look forward to engaging with you in July and to sharing insights you can take back and implement at your organisation to give it a significant competitive edge,” Mr Yates says.
