Codgers the play, a hit in Sydney
The new season of the play, Codgers, opened in Sydney last week to a strong and positive audience reaction.
The play tells the story of a group of retired men who gather weekly at as a gymnasium for exercise and contact.
Whilst the play is littered with good humor about the challenges and realities for men growing old, it has real messages about how individuals and society deal with change.
Full of recognizable characters, subtle in parts, splashed with a laugh and a occasional sadness, it is an enjoyable tapestry of life for the male of the species but would also be well appreciated by the women who share those lives.
Several well known male actors appear in Codgers, including Ron Haddrick, Ronald Falk, Russell Newman, Jon Lam, Edwin Hodgeman and Shane Porteous.
Codgers is at the Everest Theatre in the Seymour Centre (Sydney) until 1 May and then tours New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria. It has already played in Adelaide.
