Clever purchasing for aged care providers
Aged and community care providers are often small businesses or service providers who, due to their size, may have difficulties in obtaining the best deals and savings when making their purchasing choices.
In particular, aged and community care providers in rural and remote areas are often subject to much higher costs than those in metropolitan areas.
This can be due to increased transport and petrol costs in the delivery of products to rural and remote areas, as well as limited supply options.
Clever purchasing can be a good way to save money when buying goods and services. A clever purchaser may act individually or as part of a purchasing network.
Aged and Community Services Australia (ACSA) has produced a brief guide to assist in purchasing practices and to help become a clever purchaser.
It was an initiative of the ACSA National Rural & Remote Committee and is available on the ACSA website, www.agedcare.org.au.
