Burning up with a fever!

Aged-care residents across the state and country have been struck by an unexplained, contagious (yet non-life-threatening) fever – a ‘royal fever’ that is!

Residents and staff alike are preparing for a royal affair this evening as they switch their televisions on with the rest of the world to watch the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Alwyndor Aged Care in Hove, South Australia, is just one of many aged-care facilities which have a fun-filled afternoon organised in celebration of the royal nuptials.

The high-care facility’s activity program leader, Heather, told DPS Publishing that today’s afternoon high-tea will be followed by pink champagne, glitter hats; and games including ‘royal pass the parcel’ and ‘royal telegram’.

“Yesterday the residents also made tiaras for the ladies and bow-ties for the gents,” Heather said.

“Because we are a high care facility, some of our residents may become tired before the wedding airs on TV this evening.

“We will be recording the program so residents can either choose to watch it tonight or tomorrow,” she said.
