Craig Botterill won the prestigious industry accolade for his culinary prowess and hard work as well as his leadership skills and provision of quality nutritious meals to older residents at the Gardenia site.

Mr Botterill has been at BlueCross Gardenia for six years, and his work has provided him the opportunity to create new menu designs and provide nutritious and tasty meals to residents, which Craig is extremely proud of.

“It’s exciting to get an award for something I’m very passionate about. Working with a fantastic team in BlueCross has continued to bring out the best in me,” says Mr Botterill.

Mr Botterill has brought added professionalism to the kitchen at Gardenia with a focus on procedures, cleaning and compliance.

He believes in creating a collaborative work environment for his team and is often sharing a laugh or chatting with them throughout the day while getting his work done.

“It’s important to work hard and maintain the best standards but also keep the kitchen environment light-hearted,” says Mr Botterill.

The OSCARs recognise the hard work of staff in the aged care, retirement living, childcare and hospitality industries throughout Australia.
