Blue Care launches new respite social group

Not for profit provider, Blue Care Coomera Community Care, is offering a new respite service to the community for people with limited access to social activities.

Coordinator, Melissa Tesoriero, says the service enables community members, who are aged 50 years or over, to go on day trips to different lunch venues or attend morning shows across the Gold Coast.

“Respite services are designed to give relief to carers and people in care by offering support where it’s needed and therefore enhancing their quality of life,” Ms Tesoriero says.

“Blue Care recognises the importance of providing a support network for carers to access when they require a break.

“There will be an 'Out-and-about Tuesday group', with pick up from 8am at Coomera, Upper Coomera, Pacific Pines and Oxenford.

“There will also be an 'Out-and-about Wednesday group' with pick up from 8am at Ormeau, Pimpama and Jacobs Well areas.”

The service is for people aged 50 years and over, who are eligible for funding through Queensland Community Care services (QCC) or people aged 65 and over, who are eligible for funding through Home and Community Care services (HACC).

The cost is $10, plus the cost of meals and/or shows, where the cost is kept to a minimum.

Carers or interested people from the community are invited to phone Leanne at Blue Care Coomera Community Care on (07) 5644 0400 for further information.
