“Shall I be Mother?”

Black tea can help lower the levels of stress hormones in the body, according to a study in the latest issue of Pyschopharmacology. A group of males stopped their normal consumption of caffeinated drinks and then were given either a black tea mixture or a placebo four times a day.

Both groups were then placed in stressful scenarios, with those drinking black tea recovering their normal blood levels of the stress hormone cortisol, most rapidly- down 47% after 50 minutes compared to only 27% in the placebo group.
