Bilingualism keeps your brain healthy

Lifelong use of two languages helps delay the onset of dementia by four years, compared to those who speak only one language, according to research in the journal ‘Neuropsychologia’. The difference remained even after accounting for cultural differences, immigration, formal education, employment and gender.

The ability to speak two languages fluently has already been linked to increased attention span and better control of brain function in children and adults.
