Better private health insurance information for consumers

The 10 million Australians who are covered by private hospital cover now have a better tool to call on when trying to work out which cover is best for them, with the launch of improvements to the website www.privatehealth.gov.au

The key feature of the website allows consumers to easily compare policies, which will makes it even easier for people to compare private health insurance products according to the Minister for Health and Ageing, Nicola Roxon.

The website improvements include an improved search feature that is very user-friendly and follows extensive consultations with a reference group made up of consumers, private health insurers and health providers.

Consumers can find out how much they are likely to pay in premiums, which hospitals the insurers have agreements with and where they can be treated with no or low gap.
