Bayview aged care opens much needed beds
Aged care and retirement operator Japara Healthcare has officially opened its latest development site, Bayview Aged Care in Carrum Downs, Victoria.
Mayor James Dooley, Facility Manager Di Mnich, The Honourable Mark Dreyfus, Deputy Mayor Colin Hampton and Japara Healthcare CEO Andrew Sudholz at the opening.
The opening of the multimillion dollar extension to the existing aged care facility was attended by Federal and Local dignitaries, members of the aged care industry, current residents, families and volunteers.
The Honourable Mark Dreyfus, Federal Member of Isaacs, says he appreciates Japara Healthcare’s initiative to ‘host more residents in beautiful surroundings’ and stressed the importance of developing a strong community.
“Bayview in itself is a community, but you are also part of the larger community that makes up Carrum Downs, the City of Frankston and the Isaacs electorate. It’s a community within a community.”
City of Frankston Mayor, Cr James Dooley, emphasised the necessity of having council working closely together with the community.
“We’re committed to enabling the area to grow and expand the opportunities available,” he says.
According to Japara Healthcare chief executive officer Andrew Sudholz there was an opportunity in Carrum Downs to alleviate some of the pressure that is placed on society.
“The facility now has the capacity to care for 90 residents, which is in line with Australia’s ageing population, but has also provided nearly 200 jobs, either though the construction process or ongoing, as the residence functions on a day to day basis,” Mr Sudholz says.
