Australia and Canada agreement on health cooperation

Australia and Canada have signed an historic five year agreement to share ideas on providing timely and equitable access to health care in areas of cancer control, environmental health and administration of resources.

Both countries will benefit from the exchange, particularly in the key areas of health workforce, evidence based research and e-health.

The Australian and Canadian governments will also share best practices on environmental health and the assessment and management of toxic substances and chemicals.

Other areas of shared interest are the health of Indigenous people, provision of services to rural and remote areas, pharmaceutical policy and Avian and pandemic influenza preparedness.
