Anti-crime measures for Canberra facility
Anti-crime measures will be a key feature of a new $35 million aged care facility in Gordon, despite the area recording a fraction of the crime rates across Canberra, according to a report in the Canberra Times.
A report attached to the plans for the 86-unit development outline the anti-crime measures to be built into the facility, including anti-entrapment areas, ”minimal concealment” trees and multiple entry and egress areas.
Australian Capital Territory (ACT) Police crime rates for the area show there were 3.5 crimes reported for every 1,000 people in November, compared with 5.477 across the ACT.
The development, on undeveloped land on the corner of Tharwa Drive and Woodcock Drive, would be run by the Uniting Church’s property trust division.
