Alzheimer’s gallery exhibition in vic puts spotlight on loved ones
A new exhibition at the Geelong Art Gallery will put the spotlight on pets and objects that are regarded as special by a range of local people suffering from the early stages of Alzheimer’s.
The exhibition, called ‘Through Their Own Eyes’, was arranged after locals aged from 60 to 87 were given disposable cameras to photograph their favourite images and present a single image for exhibition.
The organiser of the exhibition, David Hooker, is a Geelong-based community development worker with the Alzheimer’s Australia Victorian branch. He said “there was a great sense of joy and collaboration. It really has been a tremendous celebration”.
The exhibition is at the Geelong Art Gallery from 10 September to 17 October and will be at the National Gallery Victoria, St.Kilda Rd., on 21 September for World Alzheimer’s Day.
