Zoe Sabri, from Victoria, accepted the HESTA Outstanding Graduate Award last year for her work assisting the elderly to live longer in their homes.

The annual Awards recognise graduates, individuals and teams for their professionalism, innovation and care, across a range of health settings.

Nominations are being sought from colleagues, patients and employers and are open until 31 July 2015.

HESTA chief executive, Debby Blakey, says the awards are a reminder of the important work carried out by nursing professionals, often in difficult circumstances.

“The awards pay tribute to those individuals and teams who provide exceptional care, and are an opportunity to highlight innovations in clinical practice that lead to improved patient care,” Ms Blakey says.

Longstanding awards supporter, ME Bank, has provided a prize pool of $30,000, which will be divided among the winners in three award categories — Nurse of the Year, Outstanding Graduate and Team Innovation.

The winners of the Nurse of the Year and Outstanding Graduate Award will each receive a $5,000 ME

Bank Everyday transaction account and $5,000 towards further education. The Team Innovation Award

winner will receive a $10,000 development grant to take their program or initiative to the next level.

Zoe Sabri, from Victoria, accepted the Outstanding Graduate Award last year for her work assisting the elderly to live longer in their homes.

Based at RDNS Springvale, in what has been described as one of Melbourne’s most culturally diverse communities, Ms Sabri was recognised for her sensitivity and work in assisting elderly clients to live at home for as long as possible.

At the time, Paul Ryan, RDNS Springvale client services manager, described Ms Sabri as being “wise beyond her years”.

“She has a real knack for developing relationships with her elderly patients and their families,” Mr Ryan said.

The 2015 finalists will be announced in September and interstate finalists will be flown to Brisbane for the Awards dinner on 15 October. Make a nomination or learn more about the awards.
