Aged care has tools of the trade
Help is at hand for aged care boards and senior management to improve their performance and strengthen the link between good governance and quality care. Mark Brandon, The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency chief executive, said they had revised the Governance and Accreditation Toolbox and have now developed a scheme of accredited facilitators to deliver the program to aged care homes.
Help is at hand for aged care boards and senior management to improve their performance and strengthen the link between good governance and quality care.
Mark Brandon, The Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency chief executive, said they had revised the Governance and Accreditation Toolbox and have now developed a scheme of accredited facilitators to deliver the program to aged care homes.
“Our facilitators are highly regarded professionals with years of experience working with aged care boards,” Mr Brandon said.
The Accreditation Agency is an internationally recognised accreditation body focused on promoting high quality care.
“With a wealth of knowledge and experience, they will provide valuable insights into the world of aged care governance for boards and management,” he said.
The facilitators are now available to deliver the Governance and Accreditation Toolbox across Australia.
The toolbox has been updated based on feedback from homes that have used the package.
It comprises four modules which reflect the key principles of governance in aged care.
The four modules are:
• Governance principles and practices
• Accreditation Standards and the accreditation process
• Quality management and continuous improvement
• Performance management.
