Aged care course provider registration suspended

Posted
by DPS

A South Australian college is appealing a decision by the Federal Government to suspend the college’s registration. The Adelaide Pacific International College offered aged care, business and automotive courses to international students, mainly from India.

The college recently failed 12 of 14 Federal quality standards in an audit according to an ABC News report.

The Federal Government has suspended the college’s registration for breach of laws protecting international students.

Students will be meeting with migration authorities after many were threatened with expulsion for poor attendance.

“My department will have to make a decision about what action to take with regard to the college – as I’ve said, they’re assessing the college’s response to our initial notification and we’ll make a decision accordingly,” said SA Further Education Minister, Jack Snelling.

“We’re in the process of having a look at, if the need arises, making sure that students are able to be placed with other training providers including TAFE.”

A state audit will be conducted.
