Queensland Health and general practitioners in Brisbane, Ipswich and Toowoomba will work together in the next few days to ensure that people involved in the flood clean up are adequately vaccinated.
Chief Health Officer, Dr Jeannette Young, said many people who were planning on lending a hand had expressed concern they may not have adequate coverage against tetanus.
Dr Young said there was not a need for mass tetanus vaccination programs, but it was hoped the provision of the shots at these sites would help allay the fears of some people who were concerned about tetanus.
