Advantaged Care awarded property award

Kresner Group’s aged care facility, Advantaged Care at Georges Manor, was recognised at the Excellence in Property Awards held in Sydney last week.

Advantaged Care at Georges Manor was awarded a Highly Commended in the Property Development Division, second place to Macquarie Bank – Shelly St, King St Wharf.

Laurie Kresner, director of Kresner Group and Advantaged Care, said the award was welcome recognition for the development, located in Sydney’s South West.

“We decided to specialise in developing and operating aged care facilities after our personal experience highlighted significant deficits in the care and accommodation of elderly Australians. Georges Manor represents years of research and careful planning to achieve a new standard in aged care.

“We would like to thank the judges and the Australian Property Institute for recognising these achievements. We will continue to strive for excellence in the built environment, in our people and the care we provide for older Australians,” she said.

More than 150 new jobs have been created by the facility, which operates three shifts a day, 365 days a year. Phase Two of the development will open in November 2009, taking the total number of beds in the facility to 144.

The development uses environmentally sustainable design principles, with systems including solar hot water, a cold water laundry that uses Ozone instead of boiling water to sterilize the washing, a stormwater harvesting and separate sewer reticulation system that uses the stormwater to flush all toilets at the facility.
