Adelaide southern suburbs to benefit from aged care hub
One of South Australia’s largest aged care providers will manage its southern Adelaide services from one central location, following the official opening of its new office by the federal Minister for Ageing, Mrs Justine Elliot.
The ACH Group’s south office, located in Christies Downs, will be a hub for almost 220 staff members and 140 volunteers who provide a variety of care services to up to 5,000 older people each year.
The new office is located within the Australian Government’s Metropolitan South Aged Care Planning Region, which has one of the fastest growing aged populations in South Australia.
The Australian Bureau of Statistics has projected that the area will continue to experience high aged population growth for at least the next 15 years as members of the ‘baby-boomer’ generation retire and settle in the area.
The ACH Group received around $25 million in Australian Government funding last financial year, and about $5 million from the Australian Government for joint Commonwealth-State government programs.
The ACH Group is a charitable organisation incorporated in 1952. It is one of the largest providers of residential and community aged care in South Australia, providing housing for around 690 older people as well as in-home and other services to more than 35,000 older people and their carers, every year.
