ACS Tasmania calls for more aged care funding

A senate inquiry has been told that aged care in Tasmania needs a special approach due to its regional nature.
ABC Online reports that Aged and Community Services Tasmania (ACST) has called on the Federal Government to increase funding to the area to ensure smaller aged care providers remain viable.
ACST chairman, Darren Mathewson, says the Government has to respond to community needs.
“Firstly the Government needs to consider the release of more community care places,” he said.
“At the moment there’s only very few released but there’s a demand for many more, and the other essential thing is to make it sustainable for providers to take on residential care beds.”
