ACAT assessment times delaying admissions

Obtaining an ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) assessment varies widely from state to state and region to region, as revealed in an answer to a Parliamentary question.
The state differences are:
- Tasmania 14 days
- Western Australia 17 days
- Victoria 24 days
- Northern Territory 24 days
- ACT 24 days
- New South Wales 32 days
- Queensland 35 days
- South Australia 35.9 days
The shortest time was in southwest Western Australia at 6 days and the longest was the Hunter (New South Wales) at 69 days.
ACAT assessments, although valid for 12 months, are required for admission to aged care, so delays can cause distress for families and potential residents.
