‘A Home for All: Cultural Competence in Residential Aged Care’ now available online

The NSW Transcultural Aged Care Service (TACS) has produced this program.
It is based on the national training competency standards for Community Services (CHC02).
NSW TACS’s cultural competence training package covers the Competency Unit CHCCS405A: ‘Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers.’
The comprehensive program, delivered in either face-to-face mode or self learning via CD ROM, covers the following five modules:
- The Experience of Migration
- Culture
- Cross-Cultural Communication
- Cultural Safety and Cultural Competence
- Holistic Care
Each module addresses key elements of the unit of competency covered, utilising various training techniques designed for full student participation and enjoyment throughout the learning experience.
