A dream is all it took
It all began with three people in one suburban living room who had the dream of making a difference.
Today, Calvary Silver Circle operates across four states and two territories and assists 10,000 people a month.
Celebrating its 20th year in operation last Friday (20 May 2011), Calvary Silver Circle is a community care organisation supporting people of all ages to help them remain in their home and community, through personal, domestic and respite care services.
Originally called GLAD, the trading name of Silver Circle came about over a dinner with its founders. ‘Silver’ represents quality and older people, and the ‘circle’ symbolises the circle of life in which people at any stage may need assistance.
Calvary Silver Circle has continued to grow over the years, through establishing centres in regions where other Calvary services exist.
One of the most recent services came last month through the inclusion of the community care and respite services from CatholicCare Hunter Manning.
Calvary Silver Circle also became part of the Little Company of Mary Health Care 5 years ago.
Today, the organisation provides more than 1.1 million hours of service a year, and has 24 sites across the country and nearly 2,000 dedicated staff.
