$450,000 for HACC in NSW
Frail aged people, younger people with a disability, and their carers will benefit from more than $450,000 in additional funding for community transport provided by the Home and Community Care (HACC) program in New South Wales.
The Minister for Ageing, Christopher Pyne, and the NSW Minister for Ageing and Disability Services, Kristina Keneally, jointly announced the funding for 13 HACC projects across NSW.
The projects funded under this package will provide additional services for older people and people with disabilities who need transport assistance to have easier access to the communities in which they live.
They will enhance community transport services after hours and on weekends, enabling older people to shop, attend doctor’s appointments, or go on social outings during those times.
The services and locations to receive funding are Northern Rivers Community Transport, Community Wheels (Blacktown and Parramatta), Hastings Macleay Community Transport, Sydney Metro Community Transport, Shoalhaven Community Transport, Kiama Community Transport, Nyngan & Districts Community Transport (Cobar and Dubbo), Orange Community Transport, Oxley Community Transport Service (Nundle and Tamworth, Barraba), Dungog & District Community Transport, Dubbo Community Transport Scheme, and the Snowy River Cooma Monaro Community Transport .
