Living at Southern Cross Care
Bert England Lodge provides residential care and dementia support for 44 clients and is managed by Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc on behalf of the City of Rockingham.
It is conveniently located within one kilometre of Rockingham General Hospital, Woodbridge Medical centre, a Supa IGA Store and a Brumby’s Bakery. There are also several local shops including a post office and a chemist.
Our residents enjoy living in a home environment. The Lodge has been designed as four individual houses, each offering a kitchen with an adjoining lounge and dining area for up to 44 residents. Residents can enjoy delicious meals from a Chef designed menu and with advanced notice are encouraged to invite family members to dine with them.
There is a large community space where all residents can participate in regular activities, outings and events. The houses combine to play Bocce, miniature golf and bowls during the week. Individual houses also run quiz nights, bingo nights and pamper parlours for residents. There are craft afternoons and vegetable prepping sessions for those who are interested. There is always an activity planned at the home and residents are invited to participate in lifestyle programs that they are interested in and that suit their own needs.
Each home has generous sized private rooms with ensuite bathrooms and reverse-cycle air conditioning. Residents can bring their own wall hangings - paintings, pictures & photographs. They may also bring their own furniture space permitting. We pride ourselves on ensuring the move to a residential home is as smooth and comfortable for the resident as possible.
Our residents receive 24 hours a day care and specialist support from our nursing and support staff, allied health professionals, with services such as an onsite hair salon and pet friendly rooms. There are several GP’s that visit the site regularly however some of our residents are able and do visit their own family GP. The local Anglican and Catholic representatives visit the residential care home and, an Anglican service is held every two weeks.
As a not-for-profit, Southern Cross Care (WA) Inc. is committed to providing residential care to ensure West Australians have access to the services they need. Services can be charged by payment of a Maximum Refundable Accommodation Deposit (RAD), a Daily Accommodation Payment (DAP) or combination of both RAD and DAP. We welcome supported residents. Please contact the Customer Contact Centre for more information on availability and costs.
Opened in 1991, the facility is named after Bert England, a General Practitioner who together with other Rockingham / Kwinana residents raised money to open the aged care facility.
