Peace of mind for people living with dementia
Safely Home can help people living with dementia walk safely by providing rapid and accurate identification if they get lost. Safely Home is also suitable for anyone with intellectual disabilities at risk of becoming lost.
When you register with Safely Home the person you care for will receive a personalised stainless steel bracelet to wear at all times. It features an engraved toll free telephone number and personal identification number linked to the NSW Police Safely Home database.
The confidential database includes a detailed description of the person with dementia, including a photograph, where provided, contact information, previous residential addresses and locations the person may visit. The database is accessible by police at
When someone finds the lost person, they can look at the bracelet, telephone the police & quote the personal identification number. The police then make arrangements for the person to be returned safely home.
Safely Home is a joint project of Alzheimer’s Australia NSW and the NSW Police. To obtain an information kit, please telephone the National Dementia Helpline on 1800 100 500.
