PresCare Vela
About
In the bustling Brisbane suburb of Carina, you’ll find PresCare Vela – 154-bed residential facility which also includes a 30-bed special care unit for those diagnosed with dementia.
All of Vela’s single rooms have en-suites, air-conditioning and ceiling fans and some (on an upper floor) have balconies. Each wing contains cosy lounge and intimate dining areas, alongside well-appointed activities areas, all designed to nurture a sense of community and encourage connection and friendships.
Family and friends of our care recipients are always welcome to visit and are encouraged to make full use of the facilities such as the BBQ area, our beautiful lush gardens, the cinema or our purpose built function room. Not forgetting our very own Explorers Café (with a children’s play area), which is located in a picturesque garden courtyard and open 7 days a week.
Other amenities at Vela’s state-of-the-art residential facility include a fully-equipped gymnasium in which our physiotherapist provides tailored care to residents, plus a private chapel and on-site chaplain.
At Vela, two things are at the heart of everything we do: providing a caring and friendly atmosphere where residents are involved in decisions relating to their health, care and social needs; and making sure that our care and services are based on the needs, preferences and choices of the people in our care.
Care and services at Vela are provided by qualified, highly trained and skilled staff. Our registered nurses are trained to provide palliative care as well as general nursing care, working closely with general practitioners, geriatricians, medical specialists, nurse practitioners and allied health staff. This ensures that those who prefer to stay in the home when unwell are able to do so instead of being admitted to hospital.
