Mary MacKillop Care is a not-for-profit organisation offering aged care, community care and disability services. All Mary MacKillop Care sites are owned by the Sisters of St Joseph, an Order which has been assisting the elderly, frail, marginalised and disabled within the South Australian Community since 1866.
Flora McDonald offers modern, purpose-built accommodation with a range of shared facilities for residents to enjoy, including spacious rooms, common lounge and dining areas, tranquil chapel, indoor living areas and outdoor courtyards. Our dedicated staff provides a high standard of holistic and individualised care to our residents in a warm and homely atmosphere.
At Flora McDonald, we strive to provide quality care and an extensive range of services to our residents, while at the same time offering support to families and friends. On entering our modern, welcoming facility, residents are encouraged to continue to maintain and develop their interests and friendships within the community and we cater for residents from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds.
We provide spacious single room with ensuites, and residents are welcome to add personal possessions to help give a sense of ownership and belonging to their room.
Family and friends are considered paramount to each residents’ wellbeing and are encouraged to continue to play a major role in their lives. Visiting hours are unlimited and visitors are welcomed for, outings, activities, special events, or to join our enthusiastic team of volunteers.
Our Lifestyle team takes a holistic approach to the needs of each resident and we offer a wide range of mind and body wellness programs.
Residents are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the diverse range of programs and outings and there is always something happening for residents, including exercise for fun, bingo, music concerts, bowling, cooking, craft, movie afternoons, pet visits and happy hour.
Our kitchen offers residents a variety of ‘home-style’ meals, using the finest of ingredients, prepared daily on the premises. Within our kitchen at Flora McDonald, our chef works in consultation with qualified staff to ensure that all of our residents enjoy a variety of nutritionally balanced, delicious meals.
Understanding that food is instrumental in achieving both good health and a high quality of life, we create menus that focus on great taste and variety. We offer a seasonal menu so as to provide new options for breakfast, lunch, dinner, morning tea, afternoon tea and supper and we regularly cater for theme days which the resident’s thoroughly enjoy.
We offer choices of hot and cold meals and can cater for allergies, intolerances and culturally specific needs.
Flora McDonald’s Pastoral Care Team’s quality of care is marked by their overall sensitivity to and respect for residents, their families and their beliefs. The Pastoral Care Team unfailingly provides care and support to residents and their families when they are most vulnerable especially.
