The Italo-Australian Welfare & Cultural Centre Inc has been a peak organisation in the Italian community since its inception in 1956, and over the years it has helped many thousands of people through its charitable fundraising events and through the many educational, welfare and cultural programs and social activities which are offered for the benefit of both the Italian and Australian Communities.
Funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care, the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) - Home Care (one-to-one) and Residential Care (one-to-one and groups) - helps to establish links between people living in aged care facilities, their homes and their community. The fundamental objective is to improve the quality of life of residents and people living in their own homes who have limited family and social contact and who may be at risk of isolation from the general community for social cultural reasons, including disability.
