The Ipswich Park Multi Service Centre (IMSC) operates from two Queenslander-style cottages located on Chermside Road, Ipswich. The Centre offers secure, cottage-based respite, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. It is suitable for people with dementia or those looking for opportunities for social and community engagement regardless of age. The Centre’s programs are funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), Home Care Packages (HCP) Program and the Queensland Government. Services of the Centre include:
- Centre-Based Respite & Social Support
Centre-based respite and social support provides social interaction for our clients and a break for their carers. Clients participate in social and artistic activities, small group outings, community functions and local clubs, which are based on their interests. Assistance for shopping and medication management is also available.
- Overnight Respite & Emergency Respite
The Centre provides flexible arrangements for overnight respite with families accessing respite for one night only, a few nights, or for a 2-week stay. Emergency overnight respite can (often) also be arranged at short notice.
- In-Home Respite, Readying and Settling Support & Personal Care
In-home respite provides an in-home companion to interact with the person with dementia in their own home for short periods while the carer takes a break. Personal Cares such as personal hygiene, dressing and/or meal preparation can also be provided by a suitably qualified staff member.
- Young Onset Dementia
Consumers with early onset dementia often have very specific support needs. Please discuss yours with us so that we assist to optimise your quality of life and civic participation.
- Home Maintenance
Basic maintenance of the home to ensure the environment is safe for the person is available. Services may include lawn and garden care, rubbish removal and minor home repairs and maintenance.
- Allied Health
Occupational Therapy is available and targeted towards maintaining or restoring our seniors' wellness and independence.
- Consumer Directed Care (CDC) Packages
CDC Home Care Packages – all levels, are available through the Centre for the West Moreton region. CDC services include personal care, domestic assistance, medication prompts, meal preparation, social support, general maintenance and gardening.
- Carer Education and Support
IMSC also offers carer support through a monthly Carer Support Group meeting, library services, 24 hour advice line 1800 639 331 and information sessions.
Available home care packages
The Ipswich Multi Service Centre provides CDC Home Care Packages Levels 1, 2, 3 & 4 across the West Moreton Region. Our packages provide specialist dementia support and also able to link you into centre-based care.
Our CDC Packages are suitable for all ACAT (Aged Care Assessment Team) approved individuals including Frail Aged and people living with Dementia.
Services you can access through the Home Care Package include transport, domestic support, personal activities assistance, exercise program, shopping assistance, allied health and registered nursing.
