How does it work?
You’ll see the Consumer Concierge icon on the bottom right corner of each listing on Aged Care Guide (currently only available for specific regions in Victoria)
Simply click on the icon to start your chat. You’ll be asked a couple of preliminary questions to determine your basic needs and your details will be passed on to Care Guidance or COTA Victoria.
All contact will be based on a call-back system from the appropriate specialist, depending on your requirements.
If you’d like to access home care services, COTA Victoria’s trained and understanding volunteers, all with personal experience navigating the aged care system, will assist you with any queries. An initial 15 minute phone consultation will be provided free of charge, with additional fee for service options available if required. Additional services include:
phone support for extended time periods
face to face consultations
centrelink paperwork support
assistance with navigating websites such as Aged Care Guide and My Aged Care
advocacy for referrals, assessments and agreement negotiations
If residential care is your preferred option, you will be referred to Care Guidance for specialist advice. You will be speaking with professional placement consultants who will give you an understanding of the different aged care options available (from home care to residential care), help you know what to look for in a good provider of aged care services, be able to identify triggers for aged care and carer stress as well confidently navigate websites such as Aged Care Guide and My Aged Care. Care Guidance provides two levels of support:
a basic face-to-face navigation session at no charge to talk you through all aspects of accessing residential aged care
an aged care journey mapping session at a nominal charge to give you the clarity and understanding to confidently access the support you need, including a personalised care option overview to take home
