The new innovative project by Screenworks and aged care provider Feros Care, titled FEARLESS aims to smash the typical stereotypes of ageing through the medium of film.
Screenworks and Feros Care are currently seeking applications to fill 10 starring roles.
Screenworks Chairperson, Deb McBride says the project is an excellent way for seniors to learn new skills while telling their stories.
“We’ve designed FEARLESS to be a way for local seniors to acquire basic filmmaking skills so that they are able to tell their own stories and be a part of a collection of inspirational short films that celebrate growing older,” she says.
“All of these exciting films will be unveiled at an exclusive red-carpet VIP event later this year and we will also distribute them as far and wide as possible online and at film festivals.”
Feros Care Marketing and Communications Consultant, Tarnya Sim says that she is looking forward to discovering the stories that challenge the typical views on ageing.
“We’re looking for seniors with fearless attitudes to life and who are ready to commit to their next bold ambition,” she says.
“If you’ve always wanted to get a tattoo or fly on the trapeze or if you’re already a dedicated ocean swimming or in training for your next triathlon, then we really want to help you to star in a film documenting it.”
To bring the on-screen magic to life, each local senior will be supported in developing, creating and producing their short documentary by FEARLESS Production Mentors from The Bakery Media Production.
They can also enlist the help of a family member, friend, volunteer or carer to tell the stories of their bold and fearless lifestyle.
Once the footage is filmed, the documentaries will be edited by Project Members and include a filmed interview.
If you are a senior or know someone who would shine on the silver screen, Screenworks and Feros Care are urging you to apply or nominate them.
Applications for FEARLESS close on Sunday 12 August 2018, with the project expected to be underway between early September and mid-November.
