The first ANZAC Day service ever held at Resthaven Aberfoyle Park is going to have a personal touch thanks to decorations made by residents.

Residents, staff and volunteers at the Adelaide based aged care facility have been sanding and painting their own crosses to be used during the service.

Since the facility is only six months old, the residents want to make their first service extra special.

Lifestyle coordinator at Resthaven Aberfoyle Park, Michelle Hobbs says, “Resthaven Aberfoyle Park residents participate in a range of meaningful lifestyle activities, and this is no exception.

“ANZAC Day is always very meaningful for residents. These crosses, handmade with love by the art and craft group, will give the service extra meaning.”

The ANZAC Day service will be officiated by the coordinating chaplain, Reverend Dr Bruce Grindlay, who is an ex-serviceman.

Resthaven residential homes hold annual ANZAC Day services with attendance of residents, families and friends, as well as representatives from local RSLs.
