The event will take place on Sunday 17 September at Perry Lakes Reserve, Floreat. Gates open at 9.30am with the 2km and 5km walks beginning at 11am.

“People travel from all across the Perth metro area for ‘A Walk In the Park’ each year. There are currently more than 100,000 people diagnosed with Parkinson’s throughout Australia. Over 8,000 of those are in WA, with an estimated 20,000 people, including family and friends, affected in WA alone,” Parkinson’s WA CEO Brenda Matthews says.

Now in its 7th year, the event is family and pet friendly, with pooches joining many teams.

Included in the line-up are eclectic performers from Wasamba Drummers, Bollywood Dance Studio, AusDance and singers from the Parkinson’s WA Parkinsong Support Group. There will also be food trucks, craft stalls, homemade produce and a kids corner.

“This event is extremely important to fundraising our services like the Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist Service, which is unique to WA, visiting people diagnosed with Parkinson’s in their home,” Senior Parkinson’s Nurse Specialist Sandra Rule says.

Registrations are $25 for an adult, $15 for a child, $5 for a dog, with family tickets just $65. To register visit www.parkinsonswa.org.au
