The Homelessness Action Plan aims to help the sector support older Australians experiencing, or at risk of homelessness.

Housing for the Aged Action Group (HAAG), which has received funding from the Department of Health, has developed two online surveys to gather information for the plan.

HAAG is inviting all professionals, providers and services who work with older people, even those that are not specialised in providing services to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness, to complete the provider survey.

HAAG also wants to hear from older people who have tried to get, or have received, aged care services while living;

  • In rented, temporary, unsuitable, unsafe or overcrowded accommodation

  • With friends or family because no other option is available, or

  • In a car or on the streets.

Older people, their friends, families and carers are invited to complete the online consumer survey.

Both surveys close 8 February.

Launched in December 2017, the Aged Care Diversity Framework is designed to support the government, aged care providers, consumers, families and carers by addressing the specific barriers and challenges faced by Australia’s diverse ageing population.
