Frank’s Christmas miracle

Christmas came early in more ways than one for Sydney bride Di Solomon.

Not only did she marry the love of her life on 23 December, but was able to say “I do” with her father by her side.

Di was desperate to have her dad Frank walk her down the aisle, but was struggling to find a way to get the 87-year-old, who lives permanently in aged care in the Hunter Valley two hours north of Sydney, there.

“My sister and I both live in the Shire and we were so stressed about how we could manage to get Dad to the wedding,” she says. “We knew we wouldn’t be able to attend to his care needs ourselves.”

“Because dad is in permanent aged care in Cessnock we struggled to get respite care for him locally.”

Touched by Di’s plight, Moran Aged Care made an exception to their minimum respite stay period and offered Frank six nights of respite care at Moran Sylvania.

Moran also managed to provide a room that was similar to Frank’s room at Calvary Cessnock. The team says they have great fun with Frank and enjoyed helping him get ready for his daughter’s big day.

Di married fiancé Angelo at a park in the Rocks with a beautiful harbour backdrop, followed by a dinner reception at Altitude Restaurant, Shangri-La Hotel, Sydney.

Di says it was her dream to have her dad at her wedding.

“We are so thankful that Moran came to the rescue with a short respite stay… without the respite care he would not have been able to walk me down the aisle.”
