Bring Your Pet to Work Day at Anglican Care

A pet parade was held and and awarded for the Best Dressed Pet, followed by a round of chicken dancing. Residents were also granted with a visit from Danny Boy the mini-horse.

Marketing Manager of Anglican Care Kylie Jacques says that animals play a significant role in helping the residents live a happier, healthier life.

“Research has shown contact with animals on a regular basis improves cognitive functioning, balances emotional concerns and increases feelings of enthusiasm and interest,” she says.

“They also offer a sense of peace and calm, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease.”

Families of the residents are also encouraged to attend and bring an animal of their own (such as a family pet) that holds dear to the residents’ heart.

“That is why we are so supportive of this wonderful initiative in Taree,” Ms Jacques says.

“The residents are not only excited about the animals but the fact their families are able to bring a family pet and reunite a pet with their elderly owner is very special.”

The initiative began in 2010 and has continued over the past few years.
