Awards announce Australia’s ‘most dedicated and innovative’ aged care organisations

Australia’s ‘most dedicated and innovative’ aged care organisations, teams and individuals for 2018 have been recognised following the announcement of the finalists for this year’s HESTA Aged Care Awards.

The Awards, which recognise those in the aged care sector who have made an exceptional contribution to improving the quality of life for older Australians, run across three categories – Team Innovation, Outstanding Organisation and Individual Distinction.

HESTA Chief Executive Officer Debby Blakey says this year’s finalists were selected for their outstanding leadership and innovation in improving services and standards of care in the aged care sector.

“These finalists have developed innovative solutions and programs to overcome industry-wide challenges and all share an unwavering commitment to delivering the highest quality care to ageing Australians,” Ms Blakey explains.

“It’s an honour to highlight the amazing work of these teams, organisations and individuals, who are improving the quality of life of Australians in their homes, retirement villages and aged care facilities across Australia.”

The 2018 finalists are:

Team Innovation – Geriatric Flying Squad Uniting War Memorial Hospital (NSW); Hero’s Wish Vasey RSL Care (VIC); Meeting Centre Support Program 3Bridges Community Limited (NSW)

Outstanding Organisation – Ridleyton Greek Home for the Aged (SA); STAR Community Services (QLD); The Whiddon Group (NSW); Wintringham (VIC)

Individual Distinction – Annette Nuck Yackandandah Health (VIC); Jason Bragg Opal Aged Care (NSW); Keith Cameron Smith McKenzie Aged Care Group (QLD); Leanne Shannon Northern Health Bundoora (VIC); Leanne Smart Royal Hobart Hospital (TAS); Yulunda Matau Amana Living James Brown Care Centre (WA)

Award winners across the three categories, which will be announced on 9 August in Canberra, will take home a share in $30,000 of the prize pool sponsored by ME Bank to further their education or team development.
