Anglican Care farewells visionary leader
This month marks the beginning of a new era for east Australian aged care provider Anglican Care following the farewell of “much admired” Chairman of the Board of 38 years, Mr John Kilpatrick.
Mr Kilpatrick has been part of Anglican Care for 47 years in total, having been appointed to the Board of Directors in 1971 and being made Chairman in 1980.
Chief Executive Officer of Anglican Care Colin Osborne says Mr Kilpatrick has been a “visionary leader”, diversifying the business and ensuring they remain a market leader in aged care services.
He adds that Mr Kilpatrick has been involved in the significant growth of the provider – having been a part of Anglican Care from when it had one residential aged care home servicing just 150 residents to now, where the provider runs a suite of aged care services including twelve residential aged care homes across the Hunter, Central Coast and Mid Coast regions of New South Wales, servicing over 1,400 people.
“John has been a stalwart leader of Anglican Care and leaves us in a strong position for continued growth, particularly in the areas of Home Care and Retirement Living services,” Mr Osborne says.
“We are very grateful for the time, dedication and wisdom he has brought not only to the leadership team, but to many residents and consumers of anglican Care whose lives he has had a profound impact upon.”
In reflecting on his time with Anglican Care, Mr Kilpatrick says he is proud of the staff, residents and consumers who bring every facility and service to life and make Anglican Care the”outstanding organisation it is today”.
“The Executive Leadership team have done outstanding work to build the organisation and position itself as one of the lefing aged care providers in NSW,” he explains.
“But ultimately it’s the people on the ground – the carers in our aged care homes or out in the community, the kitchen staff, facilities management teams and all the wonderful people who work tirelessly day-in-and-day-out to make our residents feel loved and supported – they are the true heroes of our organisation.”
Mr Kilpatricks efforts were also acknowledged by Newcastle Anglican Bishop Peter Stuart who says the Diocese is grateful to Mr Kilpatrick for his years of service.
Anglican Care board member for 13 years and current Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Committee Malcolm McDonald is set to take over from Mr Kilpatrick as Chairman this month.
