Amalgamation aims to make vision into reality

The decision to join forces, and make the joint vision for the Victorian region into a reality, was made official following a vote from members of both organisations on 14 November.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Benetas Sandra Hills thanks the Macedon Ranges community for its overwhelming support of the amalgamation.

“Through the union of our two organisation, we look forward to meeting the increasing needs of the Macedon Ranges community now and well into the future through much needed investment in infrastructure and high quality services while retaining existing services,” Ms Hills says.

She adds that Benetas is “absolutely committed” to maintaining the heritage and identity of Macedon Ranges Health, while remaining proud of their own strong track record and commitment to investing in each unique community they serve.

Currently Macedon Ranges Health offers a number services to the older local community members including in-home and residential respite, home care, residential aged care: low, high and dementia, independent living units as well as other allied health services.

The decision to amalgamate has also come as a welcomed decision from Macedon Ranges Health CEO Don Tidbury, as well as the local community.

“Macedon Ranges Health’s members voted resoundingly in support of the proposed amalgamation,” he explains.

“The support from our local community was phenomenal and is a great reflection on the enormous benefits the amalgamation will bring to the region.

“[We have] worked tirelessly through a complex two year process to source a highly respected, not-for-profit industry partner in Benetas, facilitate a meticulous due diligence process and most importantly, successfully secure the community’s support on this momentous opportunity.”

With the number of people aged over 80 expected to double across the region in the next ten years, Mr Tidbury reiterates that this amalgamation will enable growth and best accommodation for these changing needs of the community.

The amalgamation will see an initial $1.2 million investment with a total investment of $60 million anticipated over the next eight years from Benetas to use for upgrading, expanding and redeveloping the facilities and services that Macedon Ranges Health provides.
