Aged Care Royal Commission heads to Mildura and Brisbane

The Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety will be holding three days of hearings in Mildura, Victoria, and five days in Brisbane, Queensland, looking into the needs of family, and informal and unpaid carers for older Australians, as well as the regulation in aged care and what needs to change to improve the current system.

From Monday 29 July to Wednesday 31 July, Mildura will host public hearings.

The focus is on the extent to which current arrangements meet those needs, how services and supports for carers could be improved, and respite care.

In the Brisbane hearings, from Monday 5 August to Friday 9 August, the Commission will inquire into the regulation of aged care.

They will specifically focus on the quality and safety of regulation in aged care and how it operates, the different approaches to regulation, including in other sectors, and how regulation and oversight of quality and safety in aged care can be improved.

This next stage of the Royal Commission follows the Darwin and Cairns hearings a week ago.
