Aged care opportunities open up to students online

Opening up opportunities in the aged care workforce has never been easier, thanks to a new and national online learning platform, launched this week by aged care training organisation IRT Academy.

The new online platform will allow students to conveniently study online, anywhere anytime, and gain a nationally recognised aged care qualification from a distance.

IRT Group Head of People and Culture Campbell McGlynn says the courses have been developed by experts in the aged care industry across palliative care, dementia, medication and high support and complex care, and include engaging videos, simulations and online assessments.

Mr McGlynn adds that IRT Academy’s affiliation with community-owned aged care provider IRT Group “distinguishes it” from all the other aged care training providers in the Australian market, and assists academy students to find placement to complete their 120 hours industry work experience.

“Australia’s population is ageing, and aged care is one of the fastest growing business sectors worldwide, making aged care staff in high demand,” he explains.

“Employment opportunities in the sector will only increase over the next 25 years, making work in aged care a stable and fulfilling career choice that can change the lives of older Australians.

“IRT Academy’s Certificate III in Individual Support and Certificate IV in Ageing Support courses are recognised across Australia.

“[And] our blended learning and work experience leaves graduates ready to make the jump from student to carer.

“In fact, many IRT Academy graduates gain employment from their course work placement.”

IRT Academy says students taking part in their new online courses are also eligible for various state government funding opportunities to assist students with course fees, including Smart and Skilled funding, making it an “accessible career path for a range of candidates”.

More information about the IRT Academy courses is available online or by calling 134 478.
