A record number of nominations were received for the awards, with four winners taking out the three awards in Excellence, Innovation, and Leadership.

Aged Care Industry Association (ACIA) Chief Executive Officer Luke Westenberg says it was great to see so many nominations for the awards.

“This year we received the highest-ever number of nominations for the Awards, showing the industry’s excitement in showcasing best practice,” he says.

“It was exciting to see so many examples of excellence, and of works in the aged care industry going above and beyond the expectations of care.

“It is a reflection of the commitment and hard work that happens every day in our aged care industry, and of the unsung heroes who improve older Australians’ lives every day.”

Mr Westenberg also extended his thanks to all nominees, as well as winners, for their hard work adding that it is the “foundation of our aged care industry”.

Danielle Doorne from Infinite Klemzig Residential Care took out the Industry Excellence Award, with Renee Wichmann from Onkaparinga Valley Residential Care announced as the winner of the Industry Innovation Award, and Janice Braun from Gloucester Residential and Scott Morton from Estia Health Salisbury taking out the Industry Leadership Award.

Residents, family or friends, co-workers, immediate supervisors and site managers submitted all nominations for the 2017 awards.

A list of all nominees, winners and finalists and more information about the ACIA Awards are available online.
