The Garden City Multi Service Centre (GCMSC) operates from two cottage-style homes located on Khandalla Street, Upper Mount Gravatt. The Centre offers secure, cottage-based respite, 24 hours per day, seven days per week. It is suitable for both people with dementia and people aged over 65, who are looking for opportunities for social and community engagement. The centre is funded through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and provides the following services:
- Centre-Based Respite & Social Support
Centre-based respite and social support provides social interaction for our clients and a break for their carers. Clients participate in social and artistic activities, small group outings, community functions and local clubs, which are based on their interests. Assistance for shopping and medication management is also available.
- Overnight Respite & Emergency Respite
The Centre provides flexible arrangements for overnight respite with families accessing respite for one night only, a few nights, or for a 2-week stay. Emergency overnight respite can (often) also be arranged at short notice.
- Young Onset Dementia
Consumers with early onset dementia often have very specific support needs. Please discuss yours with us so that we assist to optimise your quality of life and civic participation.
- In-Home Respite & Personal Care
GCMSC offers In-Home Respite and Personal Care support under a private fee arrangement. Please call to discuss.
- Allied Health
Fee-for-service Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy are also available and are targeted towards maintaining or restoring our seniors' wellness and independence.
- Consumer Directed Care (CDC) Packages
CDC Packages levels 1, 2, 3 & 4 are available through the centre for the Brisbane South and Logan Regions. CDC Services include personal care, domestic assistance, medication prompts, meal preparation, social support, general maintenance and gardening.
