This purpose built home has two accommodation options. Firstly single rooms with ensuite and kitchenette and secondly a small homelike secure cottage called Palm Court.
Our kitchenette rooms enable independent and private living whilst providing high care to meet the varying needs of our residents. We encourage residents to tailor their rooms with precious and treasured keepsakes ensuring memories and experiences are maximised.
The kitchen, dining and lounge have all undergone recent renovations and are designed to enhance the social and physical aspects of dining. We encourage dining as a valued and social part of the everyday life, however, we offer in-room dining for those who choose or need this option.
Palm Court our secure cottage has a classic, timeless style reflecting a boutique hotel. The common areas have been specifically designed to enhance quality of life and maximise health outcomes and wellbeing. The open plan of the cottage allows ease of physical and visual access to promote positive outcomes. Palm Court residents are encouraged and supported to continue to participate in everyday activities such as using the home style kitchen which has been designed specifically to support people with dementia and/or reduced mobility.
All residents benefit from our staff’s distinct knowledge, skills and expertise in dementia care. Our staff undergo regular training in dementia care to ensure that their skills are maintained and that their care reflects our underlying philosophy based on the value and individual choices of our residents.
Through our wellness and re-enablement approach we offer access to a range of professionals including Physiotherapist, Speech Pathologist, Occupational Therapist and Podiatrist.
Additional highlights of our home include the “Stand Tall Don’t Fall” program. This is an innovative falls prevention program developed and successfully trialled by Alzheimer’s Queensland for people with high acuity dementia. The program also received acclaim with the National Dementia Congress, DCRC Dementia Research Forum, The Australian Journal of Dementia Care and other forums.
Another signature program developed by us is the “Harmony Amongst Diversity” program that was designed to enhance multicultural awareness and acceptance.
The Garden City Aged Care Services is conveniently located at Tryon Street, Upper Mount Gravatt and is within easy walking distance to the Westfield Garden City Shopping Centre.
