World Elder Abuse Awareness Day Conference

The conference explores the rapidly evolving area of elder abuse and focusses on the latest information, actions and new developments in the area of elder abuse.

Aged Rights Advocacy Services (ARAS) is presenting the 14th World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) Conference 'Elder Abuse: Building Trust'.

The conference will highlight developments and issues around elder abuse, including the new Adult Safeguarding Unit and steps taken by organisations, such as South Australian Police (SAPOL) and Elder Abuse Australia.

The aim of the conference is to help end elder abuse and build trust in our local communities.

The conference event will be opened by Minister for Health and Wellbeing, Mr Stephen Wade MLC.

There will be keynote presentations from Age Discrimination Commissioner, the Honourary Doctor Kay Patterson; Commissioner for Aboriginal Engagement, Dr Roger Thomas; Director of Intergovernment Relations and Ageing, SA Health, Ms Jeanette Walters, plus other expert speakers.

The program will interest the community, residential aged care sector and other professionals who work with older people.
